AIDA

June 5 – 22, 2025

An enslaved Nubian princess, Aida, finds her heart entangled with Radames, an Egyptian soldier who is betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter, Amneris. As their forbidden love blossoms, Aida is forced to weigh her heart against the responsibility that she faces as the leader of her people. Aida and Radames’ love for one another becomes a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.

Act One opens in a museum’s Egyptian wing, where two visitors, Radames and Aida, seem drawn to an ancient burial chamber. Their mysterious connection is revealed as the voice of Amneris introduces the theme of love. Radames, a celebrated Egyptian captain, encounters Aida, a captured Nubian princess disguised as a slave. Though unaware of her true identity, he is captivated by her spirit. As Aida is assigned to serve Princess Amneris, Radames’ fiancée, tensions rise as Aida navigates her feelings for Radames and her loyalty to her people. Their secret bond grows while the political intrigues of Egypt, including a plot to poison the Pharaoh, unfold.

In Act Two, Aida confronts the impossible choices between her love for Radames and her duty to Nubia. She devises a plan to help her father, the Nubian king, escape, but her feelings for Radames complicate matters. Radames, torn between his love for Aida and his obligations, resolves to end his engagement to Amneris. As the story reaches its tragic climax, Radames and Aida are condemned to death but are granted the final grace of being buried together. Their story of love and sacrifice transcends time, as we return to the museum where their souls reunite, reminding us that every story is indeed a love story.
